In a commendable move aimed at boosting the welfare of youth corps members, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved a 50% increase in the monthly allowance for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state. The allowance has been raised from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000.
The announcement was made on Friday through the office of the Secretary to the State Government, with Governor Fintiri emphasizing his administration’s continued commitment to youth empowerment and national service.
“This increment is a reflection of our appreciation for the invaluable contributions of corps members to the development of Adamawa State, especially in sectors such as education, health, and rural development,” the governor said.
The new allowance takes effect immediately and applies to all corps members serving under state institutions and agencies in Adamawa.
The increase has been widely praised by corps members and stakeholders, many of whom view it as a timely intervention amidst the rising cost of living in the country. Several corps members expressed their gratitude, saying the improved allowance will significantly ease their financial burden.
