Presidential aide and prominent media figure, Bayo Onanuga, has stirred political discourse nationwide by declaring that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves to serve two full terms in office, just like his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari. Onanuga made this assertion while speaking during a political forum in Abuja, emphasizing the need for continuity, stability, and long-term vision in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
“President Tinubu deserves the opportunity to serve two terms, just like President Buhari and others before him,” Onanuga stated. “His leadership is laying the foundation for a transformed Nigeria, and real change takes time.”
According to Onanuga, Tinubu has inherited a country in deep economic and social distress, but is courageously implementing policies designed to reset the system, restore investor confidence, and build long-term prosperity. He pointed to recent reforms in the oil and gas sector, the removal of fuel subsidy, exchange rate unification, and renewed focus on infrastructure as signs of a president who is committed to difficult but necessary choices.
“Rome wasn’t built in a day. The bold economic decisions being made today will bear fruit in the coming years. For such a vision to succeed, it requires time — and that means eight years, not four,” Onanuga emphasized.
The statement comes at a time when Tinubu’s administration is facing growing criticism over rising inflation, fuel scarcity, and the economic hardship being experienced by millions of Nigerians. However, Onanuga argued that these are symptoms of decades of mismanagement, not the fault of Tinubu’s young government.
